McGovern Science & Society Medal


On November 22nd 2008, Dr Robert Boily received the prestigious McGovern Medal from the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society. Created in 1984 to reward major contributions under the theme of « Science and Society », the Medal was attributed in recognition of his outstanding career accomplishments in science and technology knowledge. The official ceremony was held in Washington D.C. Following the presentation of the Medal, Dr Boily addressed the distinguished audience and gave the « XXVth McGovern Science and Society Lecture ».

Dr Boily is only the second Canadian ever to have received that honor, the first was environmentalist David Suzuki. Among other previous recipients of the McGovern Medal are famed oceanographer Sylvia Earle (National Geographic Society), former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and three laureates of the Nobel Prize.

Knight of the Order of the Pleiade


On July 5th, 2008, Dr Robert Boily was decorated as a Knight of the Order of the Pleiade and received the Knight's insignia from the hands of Mr. Guy Nzouba-Ndama, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Gabon and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie, during an official ceremony held in the grand ballroom of the Frontenac Castle, in Quebec City.

The Order of the Pleiade was established in 1976 by the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie, an institution representing over 40 French-speaking countries and regions, to reward prominent contributions to the Assembly's ideals of development, cooperation and friendship. Among the members of the Assembly are Canada, Quebec, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, United States (Louisiana and Maine), Vietnam, Senegal, Rwanda, Madagascar, Monaco, and many others.

Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts


On March 19th, 2007, Dr Robert Boily was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), in recognition of his contribution to the advancement of knowledge in science, technology, engineering and innovation.

Founded in 1754, the Royal Society of Arts is one of the World's oldest and most prestigious institution dedicated to the support of science, arts, innovation and creativity throughout society.

Fellow of the World Innovation Foundation


On May 20th, 2006, Dr Robert Boily was elected Fellow of the World Innovation Foundation (FWIF), in recognition of his contribution to the advancement of science, technology and innovation.

The World Innovation Foundation is an international advisory organization representing some of the world's most eminent scientists, engineers, economists, technologists and applied thinkers, including 85 recipients of the Nobel Prize, working at the creative and leading edge of knowledge.

Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science

On September 20th, 2005, Dr Robert Boily was elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (FAAAS), in recognition of his eminent contribution to the advancement of science, research and innovation.

Established in 1848, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science around the world. It serves some 262 affiliated societies and academies of science, serving 10 million individuals. The AAAS fulfills its mission to « advance science and serve society » through initiatives in science policy, international programs, science education, and by publishing the journal SCIENCE, as well as many scientific newsletters, books and reports, and spearheads programs that raise the bar of understanding for science worldwide.

Member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society

On July 22nd, 2005, Dr Robert Boily was elected a Member of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, in recognition of his career achievements in communication of science and technology to professional audiences and to the public.

Established in 1886, Sigma Xi is an international honour society of research scientists and engineers with a distinguished history of service to science and society. The organization includes nearly 65,000 scientists and engineers in more than 100 countries, including nearly 200 Nobel Prize winners, who were elected to membership based on their achievements.

Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science


On February 17th, 2005, Dr Robert Boily was elected Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science (FWAAS), in recognition of his contribution to the advancement of scientific research and technology innovation.

The World Academy of Art and Science is an international network of approximately 500 Fellows from diverse cultures, nationalities, and intellectual disciplines, chosen for eminence in art, the natural and social sciences, and the humanities.

AFCEA Meritorious Service Award for Intelligence

On May 10th, 2004, Dr Robert Boily was in Washington, D.C., to receive the « AFCEA Meritorious Service Award for Intelligence » for his outstanding contribution to research, analysis, interpretation and communication of Science & Technology Intelligence in the fields of aerospace, defence and information technologies. The Award was presented to Dr Boily by Vice Admiral Herbert A. Browne (ret.), of the U.S. Navy, and Major General Eugene C. Renzi (ret.), of the U.S. Army.

The Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association (AFCEA) is the oldest, largest and most respected international association representing the top government, industry, and military professionals in the fields of information technology, communications and strategic information (intelligence). The association has over 30,000 members located in 139 chapters around the world.

Dunamis Prize

Inforex Inc. was established in May of 1996 to support research, development and innovation with the highest level of expertise in research and communication of international science and technology knowledge.

On May 4th, 2000, Dr Robert Boily, president and founder of Inforex, received the Dunamis Prize in reward of the positive impact of his work on the science and technology community. Dr Boily has helped to push the limits of knowledge in several sectors like medical imaging, biotechnologies, environment, energy, electronics, aerospace and advanced materials.

The Dunamis Awards are given each year by the Laval Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The city of Laval is known for its scientific park that holds several of the most innovative corporations, especially in the fields of life sciences, biotechnologies and information technologies.
